Head & Heart Philosophy

We often use the phrase, “Sharpening Minds & Transforming Hearts,” to describe our purpose. We are committed to sharpening minds by providing challenging academics, which promote critical thinking skills. We seek the transforming of hearts through a nurturing environment that strives to instill Christian values. As teachers integrate rigorous academics and Christian values, students are equipped with a Christian worldview, which serves as a foundation to positively impact their world for Christ.

OUR PAST & PRESENT

Calvary Christian School was established in 1975 as a ministry of Calvary Church of Santa Ana. The ministry of the school has reached beyond the church family as it positively impacts the community with excellent Christian-based education for Preschool through 8th Grade.

The Church and School campus is situated on ten acres of land located in the city of Santa Ana near the 5 and 55 freeways in the heart of Orange County, CA. Facilities consist of five classroom buildings, a fellowship hall, chapel, gymnasium, and a worship center with seating capacity of 1,900. Our school currently serves approximately 120 students in Preschool and 300 students in K-8.

In recent years, capital campaigns have led to an all-turf field, renovation of the gym, and classroom remodels. These improvements have made the campus more inviting and convenient for our school and church families to utilize.  Many new programs have also recently been added, including a robotics class with a 3D printer, local and global missions trips for Middle School students, and the expansion of Elementary programs in Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Art, Mathematics (STREAM), and foreign language offerings of both Spanish and Korean.

Our current extracurricular offerings include instrumental music, band, guitar, beginning and advanced drama, middle school and elementary choir, painting and ceramics studies, and computer and keyboarding training. In 2016, we launched our international program and currently host over 50 students for a short-term stay and six full-time students.

As a result of our community’s generous giving, financial awards total over $100,000. This enables more than 40 families to attend with help from our scholarship fund, who would not be able to attend otherwise.

CCS received a full six-year re-accreditation from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). We are among a small percentage of Christian schools who have dual accreditation and have retained this highest level for every year we have operated. This reputation is the result of our outstanding faculty and staff, to whom we are endlessly grateful.
